These occupations are projected to add about 531,200 new jobs. Demand for these workers will stem from greater emphasis on cloud computing, the collection and storage of big data, and information security.
The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $91,250 in May 2020, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $41,950.
Alabama Simulated Workplace
The Madison County Career Technical Center and the Information Technology Academy operate as part of the Alabama Simulated Workplace. This program teaches students the importance of technical skills attainment as well as the importance of employment "soft skills" by turning the classroom into a simulated business.
Career Technical Student Organizations
Career Technical Student Organizations are a critical component of all career technical education programs. Cosmetology students will be afforded the opportunity to join local, state, and national SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.
Students who join SkillsUSA will have the opportunity to participate in various competitive events at local, state, and national levels, as well as, participate in leadership development conferences, and service learning projects.
