Automotive Collision Repair Academy

Collision Repair Technicians
Are trained to analyze, assess and fix damaged vehicles. Their work can include repairing, replacing and refinishing outer body parts. These professionals may also be trained in fixing internal automotive structures and industry standard repair. Most collision repair technicians are found working for large dealerships, manufacturers, or small private repair shops.

Responsibilities:

  • Review damage reports, prepare cost estimates, and plan work
  • Inspect cars for structural damage
  • Remove damaged body parts, including bumpers, fenders, hoods, grilles, and trim
  • Realign car frames and chassis to repair structural damage
  • Hammer out or patch dents, dimples, and other minor body damage
  • Fit, attach, and weld replacement parts into place
  • Sand, buff, and prime refurbished and repaired surfaces
  • Apply new finish to restored body parts

Industry Credentials
Students enrolled in this program will have the opportunity to earn an ASE Industry Certification in one or more of the following areas:

  • Painting and Refinishing
  • Structural Analysis and Damage Repair
  • Non Structural Analysis and Damage Repair
  • Mechanical and Electrical

Career Technical Student Organizations are a critical component of all career technical education programs. Collision Repair students will be afforded the opportunity to join local, state, and national SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA empowers its members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens. SkillsUSA improves the quality of our nation’s future skilled workforce through the development of Framework skills that include personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics.Students who join SkillsUSA will have the opportunity to participate in various competitive events at local, state, and national levels, as well as, participate in leadership development conferences, and service learning projects.
